Department for elderly patients with decline in motor function
The goal of Geriatric department is to rehabilitate elderly patients who suffer from a decline in motor function. The purpose of such rehabilitation of the elderly is to improve their functional state and restore the patient's independence as much as possible.
The department accepts patients for rehabilitation who are suffering from various functional impairments as a result of diseases, various operations, falls or other reasons. Most patients also suffer from additional medical problems such as chronic liver and kidney diseases, advanced diabetes and diabetic foot wounds, high blood pressure, dementia, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, cancer, and/or other conditions.
Geriatric rehabilitation is provided by a multidisciplinary team of physicians, under the leadership of a rehabilitation specialist. The team includes a physiotherapist, occupational therapist, speech therapist, rehabilitation psychologist, psycho-geriatrician, dietitian, and social worker; consultations with other specialized professionals are provided as well if necessary.
The patients are treated with medications, taking into consideration their age and state of health. Patients receive professional care from rehabilitation nurses and nursing assistance in their Activities of Daily Living (ADL).
